The English College, Dubai, seeks an inspiring Assistant Head of Secondary (Pastoral) to join our Secondary Leadership Team in January 2026. This role is ideal for a strategic, reflective, and growth-minded leader who values high expectations, pastoral excellence, and holistic student development.

The English College is an independent, co-educational British curriculum school (EYFS–Year 13) with a reputation for academic excellence. The Role
The Assistant Head of Secondary (Pastoral) will:
- Lead the development of a coherent, values-led pastoral culture.
- Champion positive behaviour, attendance, and punctuality policies.
- Promote emotional literacy, student voice, and a sense of community belonging.
- Work closely with Heads of Year and other key staff to implement proactive restorative practices.
- Build strong partnerships with families to ensure clear communication and student support.
- Contribute to whole-school strategic planning and the vision for Secondary.
- Support staff development, offering guidance, mentoring, and CPD opportunities.
- Carry a teaching load while demonstrating creativity in inspiring and motivating students.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should have:
- UK QTS or PGCE (or equivalent) with a strong teaching background.
- A minimum of five years’ teaching experience, with leadership experience preferred.
- Honours degree in a relevant field.
- Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, and strategic planning skills.
- Proven ability to lead pastoral initiatives that positively impact student wellbeing and achievement.
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusivity, and continuous professional growth.
Desirable: Experience in a British curriculum international school and senior leadership exposure.
